HOW TO PREPARE FOR A SPRAY TAN

While we are dedicated to providing you with a flawless application, it's important to remember that the best results also depend on the preparation you do before each appointment. Proper preparation can greatly enhance the longevity and evenness of your tan, allowing it to last 7-10 days or more with a beautiful fade.

  1. HYDRATE

    be sure you are moisturizing your skin 1-2 times a day the week leading up to your tan. This can help to avoid the solution sticking to dry patches.

  2. EXFOLIATE & SHAVE / WAX

    exfoliate to remove your old tan / dead skin cells. Refrain from using a gel or oil based exfoliating scrub - they can leave a residue on the skin which can lead to an uneven tan. An exfoliating mitt works best!

    Shaving should be completed 24 hours prior to your appointment. Waxing should be completed 48 hours OR MORE prior to your appointment.

  3. COMPLETE ALL BEAUTY TREATMENTS 24-48 HOURS PRIOR

    facial, massage, botox, mani / pedi, eyelashes, etc. Your spray tan should be your FINAL step prior to your event.

DAY OF APPOINTMENT

  • ARRIVE WITH CLEAN SKIN

    Come to your appointment free of deodorant, lotion, makeup, moisturizer, etc. Your skin should be clean, dry, and nothing on it. Should you need to shower day of your appointment, please do so 8 hours prior & finish your shower with cold water to help close your pores.

  • POST TAN OUTFIT

    your post tan outfit should be long dark loose fitting clothing. No bra, leggings, jeans, or tight close toed shoes. If shorts or a dress is your only option please be sure to have something to sit on for your drive home (towel or blanket, etc.).

    If you are sleeping in your tan (AKA going to bed before your initial rinse) please wear a long sleeve and pants - this will prevent the palms of your hands getting any solution on them.

AFTER CARE

FUTURE SHOWERS

Hold off on the loofa & wash cloths during your showers. ALWAYS PAT DRY with your towel and follow up with a spray tan safe moisturizer.

STAY HYDRATED

Continue to apply moisturizers morning and night to keep your skin well hydrated and help your tan fade evenly & drink lots of water to hydrate from the inside out!

ACTIVITIES

Wearing tight clothing will cause friction on your skin - this can cause your tan to rub off. Applying powder to the skin can help you to create a barrier.

Avoid swimming in the ocean/pool for long periods of time, taking long hot showers, using a sauna, or excessively sweating. Your tan will not last very long doing any of these activities. If planning to swim, use a waterproof SPF lotion to protect your tan.

  • A spray tan is at its peak days 2-5, and will typically lasts 7-10 days with proper prep and aftercare. Using a tan extender or tanning mist, your tan can last upwards of 2 weeks! Prep and after care are key to a long lasting tan with an even fade.

  • It is ideal to tan 2-3 days before any event and 1 day before you leave for vacation.

  • This is completely up to you and your comfort level. Most clients forgo anything on top and just wear their bottoms. We offer disposable thongs & pasties - but whatever you choose to wear OR NOT wear is entirely up to you. Just keep in mind tan lines & what you are tanning for!

    Male Clients are required to bring and wear their own shorts or boxer briefs.

  • It is required to wear long loose clothing after your service. Forgo the bra, leggings, and anything tight to avoid anything rubbing off.

    During the summer months clients like to wear a loose maxi dress - be sure to have some sort of blanket or towel in your car so you do not sit directly onto your leather seats. It WILL cause you to sweat off your spray tan!

  • The only difference between the classic and the rapid is the initial rinse time.

    The classic solution MUST be kept on the skin for the full 8-12 hrs. Where as the Rapid will need to be rinsed off between 1-5 hours depending on desired depth. Your rinse time is NOT a suggestion - you must follow directions given to you by your technician, otherwise you will result in unexpected results.

  • All bookings are done through THE BEAUTY LAB booking site. Select NICOLE HOAG as your service provider & then select your service! You will be asked to apply a credit card for no show purposes but you will not be charged.
